ABOUT TODAY’S GUEST:
Today’s guest has such an amazing heart for serving her community and some amazing experiences. Aimee Mazal Skillin is the founder and CEO of Social Media Languages and lives in Denver, Colorado. But her career started down a totally different path, like many of my guests on the “How Did You Get Started Show.”
Aimee was raised in Mexico City where she lived until she was 18 when she moved to San Antonio and became a Licensed Interpreter and Translator. She worked in the courts and with private companies for 15 years. Aimee is bilingual and bicultural, celebrating both her Mexican and American heritages.
Over the years, her father curated what became the largest privately held Holocaust Library in the world, The Mazal Holocaust Library. After his passing, Aimee had the amazing opportunity of stewarding the library for several years. She learned about social media, branding, and marketing when it became necessary to get the Library out into the spotlight so she could find it’s next home. She says this was one of the greatest experiences she’s ever had! Through this journey, she coordinated fundraising events, social media campaigns and began the now annual Holocaust Learn and Remember event in conjunction with the San Antonio Public Library.
The Library now is part of Colorado University Boulder and their Jewish Studies Program.
Once the Library was moved and she had relocated to Colorado, Aimee decided to start her company, Social Media Language. She subsequently attended Social Media Managers School and was able to fill in the blanks and get certified.
She’s combined this with certifications from San Antonio College in Marketing, HR, and Business Law, Business Management and says she is passionate about teaching what she knows and watching people when they have their “Ah ha!” moment.
She works with entrepreneurs and Real Estate agents particularly because she knows what it takes to get them to shine online.
